How to fill a PDF form in your browser

Can I fill a PDF form without printing it?

Yes, if the file contains standard PDF form fields. In Docfinish, choose Fill a form, select the PDF, complete the detected fields and create a copy. Leave flattening off to retain editable fields. For a scan with no fields, Add text can place visible text, but it cannot detect or convert the form.

Check which kind of form you have

A scan is a picture of a page, even if it looks like a form. Standard AcroForm fields are actual editable controls. Docfinish reads those fields and shows the supported inputs. It does not support XFA forms, password-protected PDFs or files with digital-signature fields. If the form needs one of these, use the software recommended by its issuer.

Fill the fields and review the result

Choose Fill a form, upload the local file into the browser tool and complete each relevant input. Check names, dates, selected options and any long responses that may not fit in their field. Create the PDF, then inspect all completed fields in the downloaded copy. The original file is not overwritten.

Choose whether fields remain editable

Leave Flatten fields unchecked when someone still needs to edit the form. Check it when you want the field appearances turned into ordinary visible page content. Flattening is not encryption, a signature or protection against all future changes. Keep an editable original if you may need to correct an answer.

Use text overlays only for the right task

For a simple scanned form, Add text can place a short response at a chosen position. Positioning uses points from the original page’s left and bottom edges, and currently supports unrotated pages. This is manual placement, not OCR. It cannot replace existing text or securely hide an existing answer.
