Job documents
A practical job handover checklist
What should I include in a final job handover?
Record the work completed, the completion date, outstanding items and walkthrough notes. List any files, instructions or materials handed over and agree who handles remaining actions. Docfinish’s completion record uses your existing job details. Review it with the actual job facts before exporting and sharing it.
Check the agreed scope against the result
Open your original estimate and any change records. Walk through each item and distinguish completed work from work that remains. Do not mark the whole job complete merely because most of it is finished. Use precise descriptions that someone else can understand without your memory of the job.
Give outstanding items an owner
Record the item, the next action, the responsible party and a proposed follow-up date in your notes. Use a separate checklist when there are many items. This creates a practical follow-up record, not an automatic reminder service. Docfinish does not notify the client or schedule follow-ups.
List what you are handing over
Include relevant instructions, files, keys or other deliverables in the walkthrough notes. Check that attachments are the correct versions and do not contain unrelated client information. You can use the PDF merger to combine appropriate document attachments, but keep originals where editable fields or interactive features matter.
Export, review and keep a backup
Preview the completion record and check names, dates and remaining actions. Download the PDF and send it using your own channel. Keep a JSON backup of the job somewhere private. Local browser saves can be lost if browser data is cleared. An exported completion record is not independently verified proof of acceptance.
